A Property With a Story
Rooted in Flight
This property sits on the original grounds of Highland Farm Airport — a private airstrip established here in Rantoul, Kansas by longtime Trans World Airlines captain Joseph Neil Schneider. This land carries a history you won't find anywhere else.
Schneider spent more than three decades in commercial aviation, serving as a captain, aviation safety leader, and Chief Accident Investigator for TWA. In 1968, he successfully landed a critically disabled Boeing 727 without loss of life, earning industry recognition for his exceptional airmanship.
His passion for flying extended far beyond his airline career. Here in Rantoul, he built his own airfield — FAA Identifier 28KS — and hosted fly-ins for fellow pilots and friends. The property became a gathering place where aviation, community, and the outdoors came together.
Today, while the runway is no longer active, the character of the land remains. The same wide horizons and open skies that once welcomed aircraft now offer a quiet, expansive setting designed for relaxation, connection, and retreat.
Staying here offers more than a getaway. It offers a connection to a place shaped by a lifetime of flight.

Vintage aircraft are visible from the road near the grass landing strips adjacent to the facility. It is a remarkable sight, and a reminder that Rantoul, Kansas carries an aviation legacy unlike any small town in America.
